Solar Car Licenses - Signs - Lights

Good Afternoon Solar Car Teams,

Texas License Plate

Under new Texas Laws, each team will have a regular metal license plate to display on the back of their solar car. Here is a photo of this plate so that you can make the appropriate attachments on your solar car.

With the cooperation of the Governor's Office and the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles, you will have the privilege of driving Texas roads from July 19-23 along the race course that takes us from Fort Worth, to Palestine, to Round Rock, to Fredericksburg, to San Angelo, & to Fort Stockton.

Teams will receive their license plate during Team Check-In contingent upon passing Scrutineering.

Signage for Chase Vehicles

We supply each team with two "Caution Solar Car Ahead" signs at Team Check-In. The larger sign is placed on the back of the Second Chase Vehicle so that oncoming traffic will have better notice. The smaller sign is placed on the back of the First Chase Vehicle. Please see the attached document for sizes of these signs. Signage must be attached to your vehicles to pass Scrutineering.

ECCO Lights

In order to insure utmost safety for teams as they undertake this drive, the Solar Car Challenge requires teams to have four ECCO lights on both of your chase vehicles. Rule 19.2.2.8 sets out the specifications. Please note the Solar Car Challenge does not accept alternative lights.

Please be sure to have your ECCO lights when you arrive at Scrutineering. They will be difficult to find in Fort Worth.
